David Mezei, Deputy State Secretary for Rural Development, Prime Minister’s Office, Hungary

David Mezei was born in 02.05. 1977 in Budapest. Graduated in law in 2000 in ELTE University, in Budapest, obtained a Master of Economics degree in European studies at the University College Dublin in 2003. He speaks English and French.

He started his career as member of the cabinet of the state secretary in the Ministry of Economy in 2000. He worked as an advisor of an MEP in the European Parliament, in Brussels between 2004-2013. He took part in particular in the work of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and the Committee on International Trade. In January 2014 he moved to Rome to become the permanent representative of Hungary to the FAO and agricultural attaché. In July 2014 he was appointed as deputy state secretary for rural development. He is responsible for the strategic planning and programming of the Rural Development Programme of Hungary in the 2014-2020 period.
